The North Yorkshire Moors Railway was opened in 1973 by the Duchess of Kent. 1st May 2023 marks the 50th anniversary, which is a cause for celebration as it’s the most popular heritage railway, welcoming over 300,000 visitors every year. As well as attracting families and train enthusiasts, the NYMR has recently been used as a location for the latest films in the Mission: Impossible and Indiana Jones franchises!

When visiting the NYMR, every penny spent on tickets, tea, cake and memorabilia goes back into funding to provide memorable experiences for visitors, fulfilment for volunteers and staff to ensure all charitable aims are being delivered.
